Yohanan David was born in 1974 in Tiberias. At the age of 10 he was discovered as a gifted painter and participated in many painting competitions. He attended art school in his home town and started painting with coal, oil, Acrylic and water. Naturally the main motive in his paintings was the surroundings he grew up in, the Galilee.
At the age of 15 he moved to Jerusalem to study Judaic studies which enrich his Jewish aspect in his paintings. In the alleys of Jerusalem he found a world rich of history which was reflected in his paintings.
His work focuses mainly on Judaic art and filled with Biblical sentences. He is one pf the pioneers in Miniature Calligraphy in Israel.
His unique work includes Jewish elements, eastern versus western motives, sentences from The Book of Psalms and The Song of Solomon, in colors or in black and white
